'Eid Mubarak!

Allahu Akbar Allahuakbar Allahuakbar
Laa ilahaillallahuallahuakbar
Allahu Akbar Walillahilham

'Eid-ul-Fitri is celebrated to signify the victory of Muslims over their desires, achieved through fasting in the month of Ramadhan. It is hoped that fasting in the blessed month of Ramadhan has made us more reflective and given us renewed strength and commitment to strive to become better Muslims, to contribute more to our families, to our community and to the world.

Allah, The Almighty commanded us to celebrate this victory in al-Baqarah verse 185: "And you must complete the same number (of days), and that you must magnify Allah (through saying the takbir) for having guided you so that you may be grateful to Him."

This 'Eid celebration ranks highly in the eyes of Allah (swt), because it is the fruit of our battle against our own desires and which brings about the quality of “taqwa” in a Muslim as desired by Allah in the verse “la’allakum tattaqun.

It would therefore be ironical if in the midst of our celebrations, we choose to suspend or slacken our obligations to Allah. Let us continue and remain steadfast in our service to Allah and hopefully our labour in Ramadhan does not go to waste in Syawal, Amin, Ya Rabb!

'Eid Mubarak!
Minal 'a'idin wal faizin wal maqbulin. Kullu 'am wa antum bi khair!
