Leading Our Own Lives

"When someone sees the same people every day, as had happened with him at the seminary, they wind up becoming a part of that person' s life.

And then they want the person to change. If someone isn't what others want them to be, the others become angry.

Everyone seems to have a clear idea of how people should lead their lives, but none about his or her own."

... The Alchemist, Paulo Coelho

This is familiar.

It's like: we always like to judge people but we forgot to 'check'ourselves or;we are so engrossed trying to change people to suit ourselves but we forgot that we should change our own.

Thanks for the reminder cikgu.

i try to be with others
but can't be one with myself
being part of other people
allows me to know myself better

others and i differ
and yet we are so similar
perhaps i'm looking at a mirror

we are a kaleidoscope
bouncing off each other's light
just as long as
we stay on our own sides

be alone in the crowd
is one lesson i never forget
be with men and serve them all without pride
in your heart - let Him alone be your perpetual Guide

in essence, man are not that different
we merely differ as we build our barricades
to God's eyes only Taqwa is inherent
there are no sides except in our own little charades
