Summer '09 - Hollywood, Santa Monica

The famous Griffith Park - one of the largest urban parks in North America. It is the second-largest city park in California, after Mission Trails Preserve in San Diego. It has also been referred to as the Central Park of Los Angeles, but it is much larger and with a much more untamed, rugged character.

I was here again after my last trip at Thanksgiving '08.

The famous University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).

The Playboy Mansion.

The rainbow flag indicates you are entering into West Hollywood - a much bigger place than Castro, San Francisco.

The Beverly Hills Police Station, where Beverly Hills Cop movies were made.

The Santa Monica pier contains Pacific Park, a family amusement park with a large Ferris wheel. It also has a carousel from the 1920s, an aquarium, shops, entertainers, an arcade, a trapeze school, a pub, and restaurants. The end of the pier is a popular location for anglers.

The pier is such a famous site that it has many films and tv shows on it: The Sting, A Night at the Roxbury, Miracle Beach, Titanic, Forrest Gump (there is a Bubba Gump Shrimp Company Restaurant on the pier, owned by the company that produced the movie), Iron Man, Desperate Teenage Lovedolls, Dark Ride, Cellular (film), Love Stinks and The Hannah Montana Movie.

The beautiful beach.
