When I Heard The Learned Astronomer

"When I heard the learned astronomer,
When the proofs, the figures, were arranged in columns before me,
When I sitting heard the astronomer where he lectured with much applause in the lecture-room,
How soon unaccountable I became tired and sick,
Till rising and gliding out I wandered off by myself,
In the mystical moist night-air, and from time to time,
Looked up in perfect silence at the stars"

This poem reminds me of my favourite movie, Contact. I spoilt the first VCD after watching it countless times. So I actually bought the second one. I was so inspired that I bought a celestron bino and started star gazing and then tried so hard to sound intelligent... like Jodie Foster. hehe :)

well reading those lines reminds me of Gattaca. The very last quote in the story which goes like this:
"For someone who was never meant for this world, I must confess I'm suddenly having a hard time leaving it. Of course, they say every atom in our bodies was once part of a star. Maybe I'm not leaving... maybe I'm going home."

That, somehow touched me.
